Varm,

I wasn't around yesterday -- getting x-rays in advance of some upcoming minor surgery -- and the Senate imbroglio took place after I got off air. I wanted to get the most qualified guests on the topic of the day. If it mimics Sean for a day, so be it -- but more often than not, we beat everybody to the punch, which is one of the keys to the show. I'm glad to hear, however, that you like my analysis. We'll have much more of that tomorrow...

Tony Snow: Liberals Will Call Alito 'Fascist'

muawiya:

I have "a bias in favor of people who've never had productive jobs in the private sector?!" Where on earth did you get that?! As for the "fascist" quip, it came in a much longer monologue about the politics of personal destruction. Here's an invitation to listen to the show. You might get a fuller perspective on the issue. You certainly would get a less wacko view of the host.

Tony Snow: JRB At Bottom Of The List
Posted by Tony Snow to conservativecorner
On News/Activism 10/29/2005 7:35:32 AM PDT · 57 of 59

CC,

You miss the point. There is plenty of conservative bench strength for the high court. JRB has been on the federal bench for exactly four months; having spent the majority of her previous time rendering the California Constitution -- and state court decisions regarding the California Constitution. She's not nearly as familiar with federal precedents and controversies, as Luttig, McConnell, Jones and a host of others, all of whom would be great and none of whom would be squishes. You act as if Janice Rogers Brown is the one and only person who would fit the bill. I maintain that she could use some time on the federal bench first -- and that there are more qualified men and women available for appointment right now. Give her a few years. She'll get her shot.

Folks,

Get ready for a busy day. We're awaiting "direction" from Fitzgerald; I'll lead with the indictment story; I'll also handicap the Supremes -- and preview the president's next political moves. As you can see, an interesting guest list -- Carville, Dershowitz and Beckel -- and great topics. Expect to hear some reporting live and on-air today. I'll probably try to rope in Megyn Kendall from the District Courthouse as well...
