Thanks. It has been a blast. Biden actually called out of the blue -- a good sign. We're going to get people in both parties on the record -- and hold them accountable!

Before you guys make too many predictions about the interview, take a listen. I'll push Hagel on the war and on McCain. As for Graham, he backed away from previous comments re: Gitmo during yesterday's interview, and was tough on Durbin and Co. He also repeated the point that if Dems filibuster any of the judicial nominees, he'll vote for the nuclear option. I'm afraid that didn't leave much room for beating him up.

Gaspar,

Keep listening. I was too polite to Chuck Hagel -- the "expert" to whom you referred. We pretty much took care of his arguments today with Tommy Franks.

Best,

Tony Snow

Here's where the nine-judge figure comes from. Democrats killed three judges in the last session -- Estrada, Pickering and Kuhl -- through filibuster. Even though they have agreed to vote on Brown, Owen and Pryor, they haven't agreed on Saad, Myers and two others hanging fire. That leaves seven in the dust. In addition, Dem sources told the New York Times today that Republicans also have agreed to kill the Kavanagh and Haynes nominations, now before the Judiciary Committee. Hence, three judges survive -- a minimum of seven and maximum of nine go overboard.

Nice.

Let me repeat the thanks for posting, and add a couple of other tantalizing tidbits about the show: In the first hour, we'll have a live report from Iraq from Ollie North, who is helping, um, pacify bad guys near the Syrian border. He'll provide an up to the minute account of the operation. In the second hour, expect Dennis Hastert to unload on Rahm Emmanuel and Nancy Pelosi. We'll make news again today....

Doug,

Thanks for the support -- and thanks to all the Freepers. We've found our mission here at the show -- to report very aggressively about stuff that matters and get ahead of the curve -- and we're having fun. In any event, it's great to see a Freeper thread. I'm going to give a shout out in just a minute...

Tony Snow has colon cancer ["Bad news, good prognosis"]

To all Freepers:

Thank you and God bless you all for your love and support. I'm doing fine. We got in blood tests today, which were perfectly normal for liver and kidney function. Tomorrow comes the CT scan, followed by surgery ASAP. I mentioned this on the air today, but it's worth repeating: Your good wishes actually make me feel better -- physically, mentally, spiritually. The power of prayers and good wishes is palpable, real and a blessing. I'll keep in touch from time to time. Most of the time, I'm a lurker, as longtime Freepers know, but every once in a while, I come out of my shell.

Again, thanks. You guys are the greatest.

Tony Snow-Tom Ridge Resignation to be Announced Today
Posted by Tony Snow to bullseye876

I would have replied earlier, but have been swamped. I didn't report that Ridge would resign TODAY, although the sheer force of Freep and its armies might hasten that result. He's in Hawaii right now; but look for him to move on before too very long.
